The Aircraft Register of the Czech Republic (hereinafter also referred to as the “Aircraft Register”), maintained by the Civil Aviation Authority, does not contain records of:
The types of sport flying devices include, in particular (§ 81(2) of Act No. 49/1997 Coll.):
By decision of the Ministry of Transport, the administration of SFD falls within the competence of the Light Aircraft Association of the Czech Republic (LAA CR), which maintains its own SFD records (the central SFD register).
With regard to SFD, the Civil Aviation Authority (Aircraft Register Department) only assigns aircraft addresses and maintains a list of them (§ 17a et seq. of Act No. 49/1997 Coll.).
Since 2021, directly applicable Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947, as amended, has applied to unmanned aircraft systems and their operation (for further information on this subject, see https://www.caa.gov.cz/provoz/bezpilotni-letadla/). This has also led to changes in the registration of unmanned aircraft. Under the European framework, Member States maintain only a register of operators and a register of remote pilots, not a register of unmanned aircraft.
One exception is the operation of unmanned aircraft in the so-called “certified” category, where the same procedure as for conventional manned aircraft is expected to apply. This procedure may also be applied to unmanned aircraft in the “specific” category for which operation with a secondary surveillance radar transponder is required and which apply for the assignment of an aircraft address. In this case, the unmanned aircraft concerned must be entered in the Aircraft Register of the Czech Republic. Further information on aircraft addresses for unmanned aircraft is available on a separate page.
